Xiegu X6100 firmware 1.1.0 (2021-12-07)
Verified — manufacturer file
Download zip (275.3 MB) Manufacturer's page ↗
The earliest public X6100 firmware package found (APP V1.1.0 Dec 6 2021, BASE V1.1.0 Dec 7 2021): audio distortion fix, spectrum and reference-level improvements, tuner and microphone-volume fixes, three spectrum bandwidths and a low-battery reminder. Predates Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, fuel-gauge battery management and the corrected 6 m range.
Read before installing. Historical. No longer listed on Radioddity's download page (still on its server). Installing it over newer firmware is an undocumented downgrade: battery management reverts to voltage-based (V1.1.2 introduced the fuel gauge) and 6 m TX starts at 50.1 MHz (fixed in V1.1.3). The image is nested in a second zip.

Xiegu X6100 firmware 1.1.0 (2021-12-07; APP V1.1.0 / BASE V1.1.0)
===============================================================
WHAT THIS IS
------------
The earliest public X6100 firmware package found: Radioddity's
"Xiegu_X6100_Firmware_Upgrade_20211207.zip", Xiegu upgrade log dated
2021.12.07:
APP : V1.1.0 Dec 6 2021, 17:55:07
BASE : V1.1.0 Dec 7 2021, 14:40:18
Changes listed in Xiegu's upgrade log (included):
1. System audio configuration optimised to remove distortion at high
volume.
2. Spectrum display improved; automatic reference-level adjustment
improved.
3. Fixed the charging indicator when charging with the radio off.
4. Fixed "the issue of the antenna tunner" [sic].
5. Fixed internal and external microphone volume not adjustable.
6. Added three levels of spectrum bandwidth adjustment.
7. Added a low-battery reminder.
8. Added kHz-digit adjustment that clears the 100 Hz and lower digits.
It is kept for its historical value. It predates Wi-Fi and
Bluetooth (added 2021-12-29), the fuel-gauge battery management (added in
V1.1.2, 2022-01-17), the corrected 6 m transmit range (V1.1.3,
2022-01-25), wfview server (V1.1.7) and every later fix. For normal use
the newest release (1.2.0 in this archive) is the one Xiegu supports.
Radioddity no longer lists this package on its download page (its list
starts at 2022-04-18), but the file remains on Radioddity's server.
Package format differs from later releases: the card image is inside a
second zip (x6100udimg20211207.zip) and is named
x6100udimg20211207.img (909,115,392 bytes uncompressed).
APPLIES TO
----------
Xiegu X6100 HF/6 m transceiver. Must NOT be used on any other Xiegu radio.
BEFORE STARTING
---------------
- A microSD card of at least 4 GB, a card reader and a Windows 7/10 PC
(Xiegu's tutorial). The package includes Rufus 3.10p in sd_tool/.
- A stable 13.8 V external supply. This 2021 package does not mention it;
Xiegu's packages from April 2022 onward state that the baseband update
needs external power, and Radioddity requires 13.8 V for the whole
process.
- Read DOWNGRADING below before installing this over newer firmware.

INSTALLATION
------------
From Xiegu's X6100 Firmware Upgrade Tutorial V1.1 (in the package).
The update has two steps: make a "system flash card" and upgrade the
operating system, then upgrade the baseband firmware.
Step 1 - system
1. Unzip the package, then unzip x6100udimg20211207.zip.
2. Run sd_tool/rufus-3.10p.exe (answer "Yes" to the administrator
prompt). Check that Device shows the card reader and that Boot
selection is "Disk or ISO image".
3. Click SELECT, choose x6100udimg20211207.img, click START and "OK" to
any dialog. At 100 % click CLOSE and eject the card reader before
removing the card.
4. With the X6100 off, insert the card in the right-hand slot and switch
on. After the logo a text prompt appears; the upgrade runs
automatically. After about 2 minutes a shutdown countdown appears and
the radio switches off.
5. Take the card out. Xiegu: "be sure to take out the flash card and start
the machine again. Otherwise, the system will perform the flash
operation again."
Step 2 - baseband
6. Start the radio normally.
7. Press the key for [SYSTEM SETTING]. Turn MFK to "FW UPGRADE" and press
MFK. Keys: PREV / NEXT select a firmware, UPGRADE starts, QUIT exits.
8. Press UPGRADE. After about 5 seconds the progress bar moves; after
about 20 seconds it reaches 100 %. Press QUIT.
9. Switch off and on again.
VERIFYING
---------
Xiegu: "The 'SYSTEM INFO' menu on the SYSTEM SETTING page will display the
version numbers of the current system firmware and baseband firmware."
Expect APP V1.1.0 (Dec 6 2021) and BASE V1.1.0 (Dec 7 2021).
IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG
-----------------------
- Update repeats at every start: the card is still inserted.
- Update does not start: re-write the card with Rufus from the .img (do
not copy files onto the card) and eject the reader properly before
removing it (Xiegu warns that pulling it out directly can damage the
files on the card).
- Baseband update fails: connect a stable 13.8 V supply and repeat
step 2.
- The radio will not start: no Xiegu document from this period covers an
interrupted update. The radio starts from an inserted microSD card, so
writing a fresh card of a current release and powering on with it is
the first step; beyond that, contact the dealer.
DOWNGRADING
-----------
Installing this package over newer firmware is a downgrade. Neither Xiegu
nor Radioddity documents downgrading, and it could not be confirmed that
an older BASE installs over a newer one. Known consequences, from the
later release notes:
- V1.1.2 switched battery management from battery voltage to the built-in
fuel gauge and asked for four full charge/discharge cycles to calibrate
it. Going back to 1.1.0 returns to the older voltage-based behaviour;
going forward again means repeating the four-cycle calibration.
- V1.1.3 corrected the 6 m transmit range from 50.1-54.0 MHz to
50.0-54.0 MHz; 1.1.0 has the old range.
- Before V1.1.6, Xiegu's system update did not preserve user data (V1.1.6
notes: "the user data (configures, voices, channels) will not be cleared
after updating" from that version on). Expect settings to be lost.
To return to current firmware, install the 1.2.0 (or 1.1.9) package from
this archive in the normal way.
