Firmware and CPS 3.03 with APRS+BT board firmware 2.00: faster scanning, BrandMeister text capture for SMS, a 'dim shut' key, a variable AES IV, and the CPS no longer reads AES/ARC4 keys from radio or codeplug (re-enter keys after upgrading).
Read before installing. Not hosted: every AnyTone/BridgeCom package includes the 'D878UVscreens' background-image set by Tim Rauhut, DL2DMC, whose readme says it 'must not be re-distributed without written permission of the author', and vendor files are never modified. Package D878UVII PLUS V3.03 official release 231218.zip: 22,070,843 bytes, SHA-256 1a794b2a98b50d6cb44858e94ebe0c5c97f6d6c9e50dc10a3fbfc7e7f695f494 (checked 2026-09-18). Contents: CPS installer (D878UVII CPS 3.03), firmware D878UVII_V3.03_20231218 (.CDD/.CDI/.spi), update instructions and change log (PDF). Install: CPS > Set > Set Com; turn GPS and APRS off in the radio; hold PTT + PF3 (top key) while powering on (red LED blinks); CPS > Tool > Firmware and Icon Update > Open Update File > the .spi in the FW folder > Write; then reset the MCU by holding PTT + PF1 while powering on and confirm 'Initialize'. Save the codeplug first: the reset erases it. Use D878UVII_* firmware only; D878UV (V1) firmware gives 'version error'. The CPS version must match the firmware version.
