Release v2.2: expanded simulated telemetry (including simulated payload sensors, now in all modes), 11 simulated failures (config -M) and random failure mode, sensors and serial GPS on the Pi / Lite board, working Transmit Commands mode. The release notes call it a disk image for a 16 GB micro SD card. The image readme (June 2026) says it is based on Raspberry Pi OS Lite Bullseye (Legacy), tested on Pi Zero W, Zero 2 W and Zero, and runs on the v2 (blue), v1.3.2 beta and v1.2 (white) boards.
Read before installing. Link only: a system image still offered by the project (2.4G in the directory listing, file dated 2026-01-31). Writing: the project wiki (https://github.com/alanbjohnston/CubeSatSim/wiki/2.-Software-Install) uses balenaEtcher and a 16 GB or larger microSD card; Raspberry Pi Imager cannot apply its OS customisation (user, Wi-Fi) to a custom image. First boot: the software starts on power-up; log in as pi / raspberry (hostname cubesatsim) and change the password, set the callsign with CubeSatSim/config -c (default ID is AMSAT) and the APRS position with CubeSatSim/config -l; Wi-Fi is set with sudo raspi-config. No checksum is published. The software is GPL-3.0 (alanbjohnston/CubeSatSim); the image is a free download from AMSAT's open download directory https://cubesatsim.org/download/.
